The one resolution I resolve to keep………

Year after year we may line up things to change or achieve, have hopes of things to improve and expect changes. New Year’s resolutions and hopes are on a lot of minds, including mine!

Sometimes we may look back and see a recurrent resolution that has been on our list but is yet to be achieved. The question we need to ask ourselves is -what are we going to do differently this year so that we finally achieve the result we desire?

The decision to change whatever it is this year is up to us. God has given us the ability and power to bring about change through His word. The self-control we are able to exhibit to achieve that goal is inside us.

2 Timothy 1:7 (NIV) says

‘ For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline’.

I believe keeping the resolutions short and focused can really help. Writing them down is important, not only because we can look at them to remind ourselves and  pray over them but also because  we can  look back on them  to remind ourselves how far we have come and what has been accomplished.

Habakkuk 2:2 says

‘Then the Lord answered me and said:

“Write the vision And make it plain on tablets, That he may run who reads it’.

I like the number 3. It’s a neat little number. I tend to group my thoughts and plans into 3’s to make them easier to remember. I’m not too sure why I come up with that number a lot but I know that  bible scholars say 3 is the number of completion or perfection and unity.

This new year after grouping my spiritual and physical resolutions in to 3’s and sub groups of 3’s it dawned on me that there is only one resolution I need to make sure I keep and it is this simple……..

I resolve to keep my new year’s resolutions!

I think this one resolution will be at the fore front of my mind serving as a major reminder for me. As I remind myself and pray concerning all I wish to achieve, I will pray also about this one thing! I’m so determined that this year will be different! So determined to achieve what God wants me to achieve, so determined to be organised! Let’s achieve what we set out to do this year by committing our plans to God and resolving to keep our resolutions.

Proverbs 16:3 (NIV) says

‘Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans’.

Be Encouraged.
