Push On
I sat contemplating. I needed just 10 more tier points to upgrade my airline club membership from bronze to silver.
With The deadline to accumulate these points just days away…..I sat contemplating . I didn’t really need to go anywhere and had done enough travelling for the year. Normally this wouldn’t have been an issue, but even someone who loves travelling as much as I do sometimes needs a break.
So, there I sat contemplating.
This was an all of nothing situation. What stood between me and my long desired silver club membership was for the most part, an unrequired, undesired and permit me to say unnecessary journey …..but if I chose not to embark on it then there would be no change in status and all the already accumulated points would be wasted.
Yes, everything already achieved would amount to nothing……. and just because I chose not to take one last step.
I cooked up reasons in my head to make the journey and planned out a good time to fit several things in to a short trip with the aim of killing 2 or 3 birds with one stone. Sitting here in the plane I began to wonder ……….
How many times are we almost there but instead we choose to turn back, let go or just forfeit something because the effort seems too much, too much trouble or simply unnecessary?
How many times have we given up at the 11th hour, on the brink of our turn around , a few feet away from the finish line , a few more steps from the end of our race or on the last rung of our ladder to promotion to the next level?
How many times have we put in so much but given up just minutes, hours, days or months before our reward?
I had spent the whole year collecting the air miles and tier points that were to take me to the next level , and there I was, one step away from loosing the benefits at the very last minute. It finally had become a no brainer. I decided 1 flight, one jam packed weekend before a busy week wasn’t going to stop me. I decided a little travel inconvenience over one weekend in exchange for a whole year of travel convenience was worth it.
So here I sit in the plane feeling accomplished. I had a lovely weekend with family and friends. I accomplished so much in the little time I had away that I actually feel surprised.
Don’t give up at the last minute. Don’t let one little thing stop you when you are almost there and have put in so much.
Give yourself that extra push and move up to the next level now.
‘Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. (Galatians 6:9). NIV.
Be Encouraged!
