A different kind of Christmas list

Christmas snuck up on me this year!
I feel like I literally closed my eyes and here it is again. With just barely over a week to go I think I feel the least prepared this year for the festivities and practices that come with it… but the ‘laid –backness’ and the calm is doing me good. I’m in a more reflective mood this year, more serene, less flustered and extremely grateful.
I am grateful to everyone who made me laugh this year, everyone who made me smile in one way or the other, the friends and family who stick so close, the patients who make my day, the people looking out for me in one way or another .
But more especially, I am so grateful to God.
1 Thessalonians 5:18 King James Version (KJV) says
In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
And so I decided to make a list of all the good things that I am grateful for this year. Yes, I wrote everything down, so that just like the song on blessings tells us to do …I could count them. And I counted 19 tangible things that have made my heart feel fuzzy and warm this year. It makes me feel so happy knowing that in actuality I probably have 10 times that amount of things to be thankful for, let alone the things that God did and has been doing behind the scenes without my even knowing and the things that did not seem like blessings at the time but were working something out for my good.
It doesn’t matter how bleak things may seem, It really doesn’t matter what the lingering or evident challenge or issue may be, do not let these temporary circumstances steal your joy or swallow the thoughts of the beautiful things that have happened to you this year, the things the Lord has done for you, the people He has brought your way, the things He is doing. Keep pushing your thoughts back to the things you should be thankful for and realise how blessed you actually are.
Philippians 4:8 King James Version (KJV) says
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

I like even numbers and so to the l9 things on my list I’ve added one more thing to be grateful for-
Please stay encouraged this Christmas.
